Collezione Maramotti is pleased to present DUE, an exhibition of new work by Margherita Manzelli.
The exhibition includes two paintings of equal size on which the artist worked concurrently and which were created specifically for this project. One of the two paintings is dark, the other light, and they are installed symmetrically in the space in order that the tonal contrast will enhance the relationship between the works.

Giulia Maramotti Study Prize
The Soroptimist International Club of Reggio Emilia, appointed by the “Giulia Maramotti” Foundation, runs an annual competition to award six prizes to students of the “Galvani” Professional Institute and the “Chierici” State Art Institute, who are outstanding for the proficiency and quality of their work.
The subject of the competition for the academic year 2009-2010 is “New Collection”: the participants are required to design 2 window images (4 outfits each) for the Autumn-Winter 2010 season.

Gert & Uwe Tobias
From November 15, 2009 to February 14, 2010 Gert & Uwe Tobias present their recent work at the Maramotti Collection, in the Pattern Room, an installation composed of twenty one pieces, from large size woodcuts to drawings and sculptures, placed inside a walldrawing covering all the walls of the exhibition space.
Their works mix abstract and figurative elements taken from the folk culture of their place of origin, Transylvania, but also from a contemporary formal language, where points of reference are imbued with strong ironic flavours.

My Little Black Dress
"A special event organised by Max Mara and the women's magazine "A"."My little black dress" is the theme of the fashion show featuring thirty of this season's "must haves", which was held on October 15th in the Max Mara boutique on Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Milan.
The event was organised with the collaboration of Platinum, l'Oréal Professionnel, Helena Rubinstein and X-rated.

Trisha Brown. The invention of the space
On October 19, 2009 at 6.30 pm Maramotti Collection will host a public meeting with the american coreographer Trisha Brown.
Focus of the meeting is the complex coreography by Brown that takes form as a continuous exploration of the space, not only for choosing non-traditional places to stage her dance, but also because of questioning the idea of space itself as an essential element of her work, which also involves the last theatrical production. A new scenario has literally opened, where coreography and the most advanced of figurative arts (Minimalism, Conceptual Art and Body Art) have interacted closely.

New store Max Mara in Milan
New Store Max Mara, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Milan: 1400 square metres distributed over four floors, for a multi-sensorial shopping set in a surprising, playful environment.
The path the shopper is led along has a rhythmic step which focuses on the art of surprise, accentuated by the vertical layout.
An imposing burnished copper helical stairway with an oak lining strongly characterises the space with its imposing and sinuous profile, and is the strongest element in terms of visual impact.

The Pennyblack store at Corso Vittorio Emanuele has celebrated the Vogue Fashion' s Night Out together with Sergio Muniz and all the visitors who, with great enthusiasm, have been photographed with him.

MAX&Co. Pop re-edition 2009-1966 is a revamped collection/re-edition inspired by Pop Max Mara 1966 and geared to the needs of today. Only overcoats, suits and complements: the same identical styles, colors and proportions that were used in the part have been updated only in terms of contemporary technologies and fabrics.
MAX&Co. Pop re-edition 2009-1966 will be available in some selected MAX&Co. boutiques from September 2009.
Max Mara Art Prize For Women
Hannah Rickards, winner of the 2007-2009 Max Mara Art Prize for Women, has completed her six-month residency in Italy, which was awarded as part of the Prize. The award, which promotes and nurtures UK based talent, is chaired by Iwona Blazwick, Director of the Whitechapel Gallery. Rickards' work, "No, there was no red." has been recently showcased at the Whitechapel Gallery and it will be acquired permanently by the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia (Italy), where it will be presented at the Pattern Room from 25 to 31 october 2009, and later on in semi-permanent exhibition from 12 november 2009.
Trisha Brown Dance Company at Maramotti Collection
In collaboration with Maramotti Collection and Max Mara, the RED Festival (Reggio Emilia Danza), presents the national exclusive preview of Trisha Brown's Early Works. The creative genius of Trisha Brown, one of the most representative personalities of contemporary dance, has explored experimentation and avant-garde, with forays in places other than the stage. Performances are scheduled for October 28, 29 and 31, 2009 at the Maramotti Collection, that can be freely visited for this occasion. Collezione Maramotti will also host the public meeting "Trisha Brown.
Marina Rinaldi Luxury
The Luxury collection in the 2009 autumn/winter collection is confirmed as an evergreen, highly detailed and finished product.
Each item is made with precious yarns consisting of quality fibres, completely doubled in precious fabrics to create more up-to-date aspects.
Lines and volumes are re-invented: decidedly wrap-around in pure cashmere double fabrics, innovative “foulard” volume, coat lengths, hem asymmetries of important garments and the new armhole.
Colours take on new nuances: Alpaca coats discover navy blue which is now a permanent colour on the collection’s colour palette.

Max Mara Face of the Future 2009
The 2009 Max Mara Face of the Future was presented to Elizabeth Banks on June 12 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, in recognition of her outstanding achievements and her embodiment of style and grace.
Inaugurated at the 2006, the prize is given to an actress who is experiencing a turning point in her career through her work in the film and television industries and through her contributions to the community at large. Past recipients have been Emily Blunt, Maria Bello and Ginnifer Goodwin.

On occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2009, the Marina Rinaldi flagship store of Corso Vittorio Emanuele was set up by Mauro Mori with an interpretation of the capsule of the new Soul product. Starting from the shop windows, it is an installation that combines a selection of softly shaped eco-sustainable pieces: the coming together point of the designer’s work and Marina Rinaldi which, with Soul, interprets conscious slow wear. Marina Rinaldi Soul and Mauro Mori, together to convey their creative vision of (fashion) design for a future that is more aware.
Sportmax and Bodum special Salone del Mobile
Sportmax together with Bodum, a Danish company specialised in the production of design objects for the home and kitchen, presented the ‘Get Green’ exhibition inside the Sportmax Store, Via della Spiga 30, during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2009.
The ‘Grow a green Thumb’ collection of flowerpots was shown at the ‘Get Green’ exhibition comprising nine porcelain stoneware flowerpots in different sizes and shapes, including cylindrical, conical and square ones, that create a lively and playful dialogue with the ‘green thinking’ onlooker. A characteristic trait of this collection is the presence of functional rubber flowerpot saucers with a modern and minimal design.
First Sportmax flagship store in Russia
The opening of first Sportmax flaship store in Russia, was celebrated on 15 april 2009 whit an exclusive fashion show and party held inside the Gum shopping mall, in Red Square, one of the most famous in the world.
The Sportmax store, designed by the architect Vincenzo De Cotiis, is characterised by a highly innovative concept in terms of volumes, content and of the materials used.
MAX&Co.&AFRICA&YOU
MAX&Co.&AFRICA&YOU designates the first ethical project developed by MAX&Co., in collaboration with ITC (Internationa Trade Centre) and involving over 500 Kenyan women, all of whom live and work in the slum settlements of Nairobi.
This first collaboration promote “ethical fashion” values, i.e. fashion which offers the possibility of assuming a responsible approach to consumption.

First exhibition in Italy for US artist John Simon. The five works on display are a retrospective exploration of ten years of research into software art: from 1999 to 2009, the date of his latest work commissioned by Maramotti Collection.
Soroptimist Internetional Prize
Soroptimist International of Reggio Emilia organises yearly a competition on behalf of the "Giulia Maramotti" Foundation, awarding six prizes to high-achieving students at "Galvani" Vocational High School and "Chierici" Art High School as an acknowledgement of the standard and quality of their work. The theme of the Competition for the 2007 - 2008 school year is focused on: "The ideal client”. Participants were asked to prepare a wardrobe of their chosen customer, drawing a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 10 colourful total looks.
“Galvani” students who won the award were Veronica Caferri, Bruna Fiorentini and Daniel Alessi with a special mention for Daniela Laudando. Winners at “Chierici” High School were: Paolo Yao, Greta Bertoldi and Erika Nizzoli, with special mentions for Jennifer Mattana and Cristiana Ferrari.

Harry Peccinotti and iBlues
The lens of a great photographer meets the fashion of iBlues. The founder of Nova and the artist who created the ’68 and ’69 Pirelli calendars, Harry Peccinotti has come up with images that are exceptionally expressive and striking in his interpretation of the iBlues brand’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
His photos are a continual homage to the natural sensuality of the female body.

Sportmax Code’s website presents W-O-W, an area designed to promote the work and the experiences of creative women. W-O-W is a webzine containing interviews, features, audio and video files aimed at presenting an authentic portrait of today’s woman.

The Cube is a design product: an innovative, high-tech garment that can be transformed and personalised. The Cube is interpreted by a number of international artists who underline the conceptual aspects that lie behind the project.
Whispers in the Air
“Whispers in the Air" is Sportmax’s first charity project, set up in collaboration with Reggio Children. The funds raised by the project will go to the “National Network of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela”, created in 1975 by the master conductor José Antonio Abreu.
Max Mara Art Prize for Women
The second edition of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in Association with the Whitechapel Gallery is open to all forms of artistic expression; its aim is to support and promote young female artists who are resident in the United Kingdom, considered one of the epicentres of the international art scene.
The second edition of the Prize was won by Hannah Rickards.
New Pennyblack Concept Store
Pennyblack opens a new concept store in the centre of Milan.
The 250-metre-square store has three floors, and is characterised by a single display window and a particularly light, airy architectural style. Top-quality materials such as bleached zebrano wood and a particular type of metallic resin are the main features of the interior design.

COATS! Max Mara, 55 years of Italian fashion
“Coats! Max Mara, 55 years of Italian fashion”, the retrospective on the history of the company as seen through its most symbolic garment, the coat. Following the successes achieved in Berlin and Tokyo, the exhibition moves to the prestigious National Art Museum in Beijing, from 19 October to 12 November2008.
To mark the inauguration of the exhibition, a single show was organised in a spectacular location: a disused water cistern in the city’s 798 district, formerly a weapons factory and which today houses prestigious international art galleries.
Marella meets Dance
Dance meets fashion: two parallel forms of communication and creativity come together to create new scenarios, new performances. The desire to show off the beauty of the female body is what lies behind the special projects devoted to dance on which Marella has worked together with Aterballetto on co-producing a performance of “Romeo and Juliet” and creating the costumes for the “Terra” show, both of which were included in the “2008/2009” bill.
Clothing Designer Course
The fifth edition of the “Clothing and Fashion Designer Course” 2008 - 2009 got under way in October 2008 and came to an end in July 2009.
The post-diploma/graduate course, organised by the Giulia Maramotti Foundation in collaboration with Cis Business Management School, focuses on training professional figures who will be involved in coordinating the planning and design of collections and in the various activities carried out by the Style Department.
