The Maramotti Collection consists of over two hundred works on permanent exhibition, spread across two floors, located in the first Max Mara historic headquarters.

Achille Maramotti first conceived of creating a public collection of contemporary art since the Seventies. He planned to make an exemplary institution, open to connoisseurs and other interested individuals, in the service of an aesthetic and intellectual appreciation of art. He intended this collection to mirror the evolution of the most advanced artistic thinking of his time.

Until 2000, portions of the collection's holdings were exhibited for extended periods of time in the corridors and shared spaces of the Max Mara manufacturing building in via Fratelli Cervi [Reggio Emilia] with the intention of creating a rich, ongoing interchange between artistic creativity and industrial design.

One therefore observes continuity in the decision to turn this building, once geared to the creation of fashion collections, into the permanent site of an art collection:
