Competition notice 2018-2019

To honour the memory of its member Giulia Maramotti, who dedicated her life to the professional training of young people, the Soroptimist International Club of Reggio Emilia is organising a special competition on behalf of the Giulia Maramotti Foundation for the 2018-19 school year, to assign six scolarships to worthy students attending the "G. Chierici" Art School and the "L. Nobili" Institute.

TOPIC FOR THE 2018-19 COMPETITION
FASHION & NATURE: A PERFECT SYMBIOSIS

As much as fashion is an incredible and fascinating artifice, it often comes back to exalt Man's origin. This can be done with a selection of natural fibers and hues that are characteristic of our planet's landscapes.
The new challenge in creating your S/S '19 collection will be to draw inspiration from the four elements Air, Water, Earth and Fire.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The candidate will have to:
1. Draw his own personal inspiration from the atmospheres, settings and locations suggested by one of the elements;
2. Produce a moodboard, comprehensive of his own research of inspirational images;
3. Prepare a colour chart;
4. Present a mini collection intended for a "Prêt-à-porter" utilization;
5. Draw from his own personal inspiration to include at least six colourful "total looks" in the collection.

"G. Chierici" Art School: the project will have to include one or more prints prepared by the student by hand or digitally. The same prints will be featured both in the sketches of the mini collection and also in real size on paper or fabric.

"L. Nobili" Institute: the candidate will have to create a paper pattern for one of the submitted garments, and also manufacture it in fabric. He will have to produce the digital technical sketches for the proposed garments, together with a description of the relevant details.

The fabrics will be provided by the Giulia Maramotti Foundation.

For both schools and for every student the following are also required:
- digital reproduction of the project;
- a certificate on unstamped paper attesting the attendance to the current school year and the final grades obtained;
- a passport size photograph.

A Committee specially appointed by the Soroptimist I.C. will judge the projects, and will also consider the school marks received by the students at the end of the 2018-19 school year.
The Committee will inform the competitors as to how the awards will be assigned.
