Competition notice 2014-2015

In honour of Giulia Maramotti, who spent her life time in training young people, the Soroptimist International Club of Reggio Emilia, on behalf of the Foundation “Giulia Maramotti", announces a special school contest for the year 2014/15 aimed at awarding Six Scolarships to talented students of the Institutes “Chierici” and IIs - “L. Nobili”.

THEME OF THE 2014/15 EDITION
“Arts, fashion and creativity”

Fashion has always been inspired by arts and culture. Fashion off the recent catwalks has been a tribute to garments and accessories inspired by art paintings. Fabrics and materials décorate our daily lives like canvas where the artists draw.

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
Candidates are to submit an application, including:

1) Pictures of the works of a select preferred artist used for the development of prints 
2) Representation of the project's target scope and details
3) A colour chart
4) The inspirational mood board
5) Presentation of a mini collection encompassing at least 6 total looks. This collection should include: one or more prints inspired by the work of the selected artist and re-interpreted by the candidate; a print for dresses; and one for t-shirts.
Notes:
- Istituto “Chierici”: Printed patterns  are to be designed and reproduced on paper or cloth, eventually also in real size.
- Istituto “L. Nobili”: The candidates are required to make paper-patterns and then prepare the respective garments. Fabrics will be provided by Fondazione G. Maramotti.
6) All the foregoing materials must be also submitted as electronic format
7) A self-statement  of attendance to the current school year with grades
8) Passport photo.

SELECTION
The papers will be evaluated by a Committee appointed by SOROPTIMIST,  accounting for the applicant's school grades after final assessment for the school year 2014/15. 
The Committee will then notify the awarding procedures.

PRIZES FOR EACH SCHOOL
1st place: € 800 (eight hundred/00 Euro) and the possibility of a two-month internship (September/October  2016) at one of the companies in the Gruppo MaxMara, plus € 1000 (one thousand/00 euro) reimbursement of the expenses. Failure of the applicant to complete the internship period, the budgeted amount will be allocated to the following  year, in accordance with the terms established by the Committee.
2nd place: € 500 (five hundred/00 euro).
3rd place: € 300 (three hundred/00 euro).

Each student will receive a certificate of attendance to be used for granting college credits.

DEADLINE 
Only applicants admitted are the ones who submit the complete files to the Contest Organizers by 05:00 p.m. of September 30, 2015.
