Research
Other Initiatives
The Giulia Maramotti Foundation has always supported cultural initiatives such as seminars, publications, study activities, research and exhibitions: among these we would like to remember the exhibition "The hundred languages of children" on the extraordinary educational experience of the pre-school and infant-toddler centres of Reggio Emilia, a reference point at international level; the exhibition also went to Japan in 2001.
Among the cultural and social initiatives, it is important to remember the donations to the Panizzi library, the support given to the group Amici dell'Ematologia (haematology friends) in the projects "Linfomi" and "Linfocare", to train professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of lymphomas and to create a clinical research epidemiological observatory.
Another important initiative is the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, in collaboration with the Whitechapel Gallery in London, a prize born in 2005 and awarded every two years to support the art and creativity of young female artists. It was presented for the first time at the Venice Biennale in 2005.
Max Mara also supports the International Competition for String Quartets "Premio Paolo Borciani" which was founded in 1987 in honour of the illustrious fellow-citizen Paolo Borciani, founder and first violin of the great Quartetto Italiano. Today this Prize has become one of the most important competitions in the world.
