Giulia Maramotti Study Prize: competition for the academic year 2011-2012
In honour of Giulia Maramotti who worked with great merit in the field of youth vocational training, the Soroptimist International Club di Reggio Emilia, appointed by the “Giulia Maramotti” Foundation, has opened a special contest for the academic year 2011 - 2012 to award Six Scholarships to students of the “Chierici” State Art Institute and the “IIs - L. Nobili” Institute who distinguished themselves by the execution of the proposed theme and their academic achievements.
“SPORT FASHION & MORE”
Over the past few years, the worlds of fashion and sportswear have been influencing each other: important fashion designers have been working with famous sports brands while conventionally sporting garments and details have become part of general clothing.
This merge offers endless possibilities for development, and now more than ever fashion conventions can be challenged.
The candidates must:
- Choose a favourite sport and carry out a research on relevant details, materials and shapes;
- Create a moodboard including both images from the researched field and the general setting;
- Design a mini-daywear collection, not specifically sportswear but inspired by the sports world.
The season (SS/FW) is at the discretion of the candidate.
The collection must include at least 5 outfits.
Create a paper model and produce a garment from the collection.
The fabric will be supplied by the G. Maramotti Foundation.
The winners for each Institute will be awarded as follows:
Nomination number 1 will receive € 800 (eight hundred/00) as well as the possibility for a two-month internship (September/October 2013) in one of the MaxMara Group companies, for which he/she will receive a reimbursement of expenses up to € 1000 (one thousand/00).
If the period of internship is not completed, the foregoing amount will not be awarded but will be added to the prize for the following year, by the terms and conditions that will be deemed as most appropriate by the Awarding Commission.
Nomination number 2 will receive € 500 (five hundred/00)
Nomination number 3 will receive € 300 (three hundred/00).
The designs will be evaluated by a Board appointed specifically by Soroptimist. The evaluation process will also account for the final score achieved by the students at the end of the academic year 2011 - 2012.
Therefore, the designs must be accompanied by a certificate on unstamped paper confirming their attendance to classes in the actual academic year; the final score achieved; and a passport-sized photo for each student.
The Board will provide all students with a certificate of participation, which can be used for the purpose of learning credits.
The Board will announce the terms of award.
Please note that the Board will only consider the projects that are turned to Contest Secretary before the end of September 2012.
