Giulia Maramotti Study Prize: competition for the academic year 2009-2010

To honour the memory of our esteemed member Giulia Maramotti, who herself earned so much merit in the field of professional training for young people, the Soroptimist International Club of Reggio Emilia, appointed by the “Giulia Maramotti” Foundation, is running a special competition for the academic year 2009 - 2010 to award six prizes to students from the “Chierici” State Art Institute and the “Galvani” Professional Institute who are outstanding in the execution of the proposed subject, also in consideration of their scholastic proficiency.

“NEW COLLECTION”

Participants are required to design 2 window images (4 outfits each) for the new Autumn-Winter 2010 season.

The students of the Chierici Art Institute must design a window space creating display methods for their own collection. They are required to design display structures (mannequins, busts, materials), decorations and scenes.

The candidate must:

- prepare a tableau and a colour card for each window image;
- design at least 8 coloured total looks complete with accessories;
- indicate the chosen materials;
- prepare a “window design” with complete freedom of choice as to technique.

The students of the Galvani Institute must:

- prepare a tableau and a colour card for each window image;
- design at least 8 coloured total looks complete with accessories;
- indicate the chosen materials;
- produce at least one of the garments designed.

The fabric will be supplied by the G. Maramotti Foundation.

The prizes for each Institute will be awarded as follows:

€600 (six hundred/00 Euros) for the first place, as well as the possibility for a two-month internship (September/October 2011) in one of the MaxMara Group companies, for which he/she will receive an expense reimbursement of €1,000 (one thousand/00 Euros).
If the period of internship is not completed, the foreseen amount will not be awarded but will be used to increase the prize money for the following year, in the method deemed most appropriate by the Awarding Commission.
€400 (four hundred/00 Euros) to the second place.
€250 (two hundred and fifty/00 Euros) to the third place.

The designs will be judged by a Commission appointed specifically by Soroptimist, which will also consider the final score achieved by the students at the end of the academic year 2009-2010. The designs must therefore be accompanied by a certificate on unstamped paper confirming the school attendance in the current academic year, the final score achieved and a passport-sized photo for each student.

The Commission will provide all students with a certificate of participation, which can be used for the purpose of learning credits.
The Commission will announce the prize award methods.

It must be noted that the Commission will consider only the projects delivered to the Prize organisational secretariat before the end of September 2010.
